The test is based on detecting and/ or marking the number of copies of genomic DNA of three pathogenic bacteria types of Borrelia species, causing Lyme disease (borreliosis), i.e.: B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. Garinii and B. afzelii, which are called together Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato.
This test allows diagnosing an infection within several hours as of its start, i.e. long before the development of immunology response from the organism. This is crucial for the treatment efficacy. Within a few days of infection the bacteria may already be present in tendons, muscles, joints and a nervous system. Quick beginning of a treatment as a result of early genetic diagnostics may stop disease development and dangerous complications.
